A fun week and a happy Children in Need day!

What an exciting week we have had. The children thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Media Museum – please see our separate posts for photographs of our trip.
In literacy we have read the story ‘The Princess and the Wizard’ written by Julia Donaldson. This is a great story and has super illustrations drawn by Lydia Monks. The children had to look carefully at the main characters and write lots of adjectives to describe the princess and the wizard. They used these words to help them write a character description and they tried hard to remember to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
We have had lots of fun in our maths lessons this week investigating capacity. The children all made delicious fruity cocktails. Some children used non-standard units to measure the juice to make their drink and others were introduced to measuring using millilitres and litres.
Number bond of the week is 9 + 1 = 10 and 1 + 9 = 10.
We have continued investigating materials in our science lessons. This week we learnt about floating and sinking and tested lots of different objects.
Next week we will be making something to help the Queen’s knickers float!
We have also had a fun day for Children in Need. It is great to be a good citizen and help others in need. Thank you for your very kind contributions.
Please can you make sure that your child brings their reading record and book to school every day as they are reading individually as part of their guided reading sessions. Also can you make sure that your child has their PE kit in school and it is all labelled.
We are learning about the Queen’s Coronation on Monday 17th November and your child can come to school in their party clothes. Please make sure that they are wearing sensible footwear and will be warm enough to play outside at lunchtime.
Remember that there is a teacher training next Friday and school will be closed for the children.
Have a lovely weekend.
