‘Learning Warriors’ in Year 1
Friday 5th December | 1 comment
In literacy this week we have been focussing on the story of Cinderella. We have read a few different versions. The children then thought about two of the main characters – Cinderella and the fairy godmother. They looked carefully at pictures of them and thought of some adjectives to describe the scenes – “cold, dusty cellar” “exhausted, lonely Cinderella” “beautiful, strong, white horses” We have also been busy practising our handwriting and tricky words.
In maths we have been busy subtracting. The children are becoming a lot more confident using number lines to help them work out the answer to the calculations.
The children have also been busy creating a ‘Learning Tower’ and their own ‘Learning Warriors’. Each week we will choose children to be learning warriors – they may have created a super piece of work, or struggled with something but tried hard to succeed. If your child comes home wearing a learning warrior sticker please ask them why they got it?
Thank you to everyone who has brought their outfit for our Christmas production. We will be trying all our costumes on next week.
Remember it is our school Christmas Fayre on Wednesday 10th December. On Tuesday the children can come to school dressed in Christmas jumpers, hats and accessories and bring donations for the fayre.
Have a lovely weekend.
