Merry Christmas from everyone in Year 1!

Phew! What a busy and exciting first term the children have had in Year 1. Thank you for all your support with learning logs, spelling homework, hearing your child read and leaving super comments on our blog.
In literacy this week we have been practising our handwriting and playing lots of high frequency and tricky word games. We have also updated our individual phonic assessment and most children have made good progress. (See our previous blog post about the Year 1 Phonic test)
We have been busy finding the difference in Maths and used Christmas parcels to help us work out the answers. Many children find this quite a tricky skill – maybe they could practise at home? What is the difference between 9 and 6? What is the difference between 10 and 4?
We have visited our ‘adopted trees’ and decorated them ready for Christmas.
We have also had lots of fun! We enjoyed taking part in our Christmas show – we hope you enjoyed it too. Party day was very exciting too!
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and we will see you all in the New Year.
