Four days of fun learning!
Friday 23rd January | 6 comments
Our literacy lessons this week have been very creative! The children worked with their talking partner to create a dinosaur ‘cereal box setting’ and characters. They will be using these next week to help them write their own dinosaur story.
In maths we have been busy measuring. The children learnt about centimetres and how to use a ruler correctly. They then had fun measuring lots of different objects. They also had to measure special strips of card – if they measured it correctly they could open a padlock. We have also been looking at addition calculation with missing numbers e.g. 6 + ? = and ? + 7 = 10.
In our science lessons we had even more excitement! Victor Velociraptor had heard how we had helped his friend Deirdre so he asked for our help too. He kept getting wet in his leaky cave and needed to find a material that was waterproof and would keep him dry. The children started by investigating which materials were waterproof and then moved onto creating a waterproof den for Victor. The children are really enjoying our science lessons and are really stretching their brains and having some great discussions.
In art they finished their Picasso inspired canvasses – they look fantastic. We also started looking at the work of Frank Avery Wilson and began to create our own tissue paper collages on bottles, jars, picture frames and even umbrellas! We were also very lucky to have a real artist visit us – Kate Park spent a whole day teaching us how to create a piece of glass art work. Please see our separate post for photographs of this great day.
Phew! What a lot of things we have fit into 4 days!!
Have a great weekend.
