Money, creating settings and keeping Victor dry!
Friday 22nd January | 3 comments
In maths this week we have had lots of fun exploring money. We’ve played money games, had a fruit shop, done coin rubbings and ordered coins and notes. Some children moved on to adding money and giving change.
We have been creating our own fantasy settings and characters in a cereal box! The children enjoyed using their imagination to think of their own scenes. We had jungle, space, underwater, volcano and castle settings.
We will be using these settings to help us plan and write a story next week. We also spent a lot of time on phonics this week playing a variety of games including phonic bingo and digraph spotting. Please help your child practise all the digraphs – the list is in the middle of their reading record.
In handwriting we practised writing e, f and s in a cursive style.
We had a very exciting science lesson as we got a letter from Victor Velociraptor! He needed our help as his cave is leaking and he is getting wet. The children thought about how they could help and what materials were waterproof. They worked in small groups to create something to keep Victor dry. He is now a happy dinosaur!
Another very busy week with some super learning taking place.
Have a great weekend.
