A very busy week!

On Monday we had a ‘Busy Body Day’ and the children had lots of fun investigating and learning some great facts about their bodies. We began by assessing their prior knowledge and drawing things that they thought was inside their body. Next we looked carefully at a picture of a body and learnt about some of the parts including the heart, intestines, brain and lungs.
Can your child remember any body facts? The children labelled the body and wrote some of the facts. They also had fun creating skeletons using chalk and art straws.
In maths we have been learning about halves and quarters of shapes and numbers. The children enjoyed cutting shapes into halves and quarters and finishing off shapes that had parts missing. We then used half and quarter mats to help us divide up some quite big numbers. Can your child quickly recall what is half of 6? Half of 14? Half of 20?
We also used our maths skills in PE – the children had to follow instructions and do quarter turns, half turns in clockwise and anti clockwise directions.
We all enjoyed World Book Day and the children looked brilliant. Well done to Rebecca and Harriet who were chosen as the winners in Year 1. They got to chose their own prize from the book fair. Remember that the book fair is open next week from Monday until Thursday.
Next Thursday we will be visiting our school chickens so please make sure that your child has a pair of Wellington boots in school.
Have a lovely weekend.
