A busy 4 days…
Friday 6th May | 2 comments
We have only been in school for four days but we’ve been busy as usual. In maths we have been continuing our work on missing number calculations and this week we have focused on subtraction e.g 12 – ? = 5. The children used counters to find the answers and some moved onto using number lines.
In literacy we have been reading different versions of the traditional story ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. We have been looking at pictures of trolls and using adjectives to describe them. The children thought of some super describing words such as ugly, demanding and cruel. In handwriting we have learnt how to join up ea, ay and ar cursively. 1S have written their recounts about their trip to the nature reserve – please see our separate blog post for photographs from the day.
It was 1GJ’s turn to get a letter from the goats asking for their help to build a new bridge. The children had a great day of Design and Technology and used all their skills to help the goats.
In PE we have been practising various races and activities as next Tuesday we are taking part in an inter schools games extravaganza. Year 1 children from local schools will be coming to Farfield and competing against each other. Unfortunately there isn’t room for parents and carers to attend this event but we will post lots of photographs on our blog. Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school next Tuesday.
Have a super weekend.
