The pirates of Year 1 have been busy writing pirate problems. Can you solve them? Could you write a problem for them to solve? Answer if you dare – if you get it wrong they may make you walk the plank

    There sure are some naughty pirates on your boat!
    I think there are still 81 pirates on board your boat after 19 have walked the plank.

    19 is 1 less than 20, so if there had been only 20 pirates there would only be 1 left.
    But there are 80 more pirates (80+20 =100)
    So there are 81 dry pirates :o)

    I think the answer to your pirate problem might be 44 pirates – I wish they’d have been here to help me find the treasure chest, maybe it wouldn’t have taken me so long!
