The children have all enjoyed the ‘Tree Trail’ as part of their Friday afternoon rotation. In groups of ten they have worked with Miss Morgan. They explored the school grounds and visited ten different trees. Can your child remember the names of all the trees? They looked carefully at each tree and discussed its features and gathered leaves, twigs, fruit and seeds in their special collecting buckets. They ended their session in the farm classroom where they looked in more detail at what they had gathered and sorted into each tree type. Finally they created leaf rubbings. Each group has its own ‘Nature Notebook’ and they will add to this each half term. These sessions link well with our science lessons and the current learning log homework – maybe during half term you could go on a tree trail and see how many types of trees you can find?
