1GJ had fun in the woods!

1GJ had a great time at the nature reserve at Denso Marston. Steve, the tree expert, taught us lots of new things. First we went exploring and looking for leaves and branches. Together we created a huge sculpture of a tree. We had fun laying down pretending to be the trunk. The children learnt lots of great facts about trees and how they grow. Can they remember what ‘phloem’ or ‘nutrients’ are? Then it was lunchtime – we were all very hungry! After lunch we met some tree boggarts! Finally we lifted up the heavy trapdoors and looked for minibeasts – but they were all hiding!!
It was a great trip. Thank you very much to all the parents who came with us – we hope you enjoyed it too.
