A final busy week in Year 1!

We hope that you all enjoyed our Christmas production ‘A Miracle in Town’. We were very proud of all the children – well done Year 1.
In literacy this week we have finished writing our nativity story booklets. Most children are now writing sentences independently and their handwriting is greatly improving. In phonics we have practised all the phonemes we have learnt so far this year. We have assessed the children individually and many of them are able to spot and read the phonemes in words – please keep practising at home. We have also heard the children read individually and updated their book allocation on ‘Bug Club’.
We have done lots of addition in maths this week. The children could choose their own equipment to answer the calculations and they are all becoming more confident and fluent when adding 2 digits together.
The children all had lots of fun at our Christmas party. They enjoyed lots of different party games and lots of delicious treats! 1GJ even had time to visit their Year 6 reading buddies. The children were all very excited when our special visitor arrived at our party …. it was Father Christmas!
Thank you for all your lovely cards, messages and presents. We hope you all have a super holiday and we look forward to seeing you in 2018!
