A busy last week of the half term in Year 1!

The highlight of our week was our amazing art gallery when the children exhibited their fabulous art work to the public. The children were very proud of their achievements and enjoyed sharing their work with their friends and family. Thank you to everyone who attended the gallery and for all your kind donations – we raised £148.67. This money will pay for some of the art resources and the rest will be put towards our animal workshop in the summer term.
In literacy we have continued with our story writing. This week we used the art work of Raphael Perez to inspire us.
The children used their imagination and fell into a painting again! They planned a problem and resolution and then wrote their own stories. This morning all the children did an independent piece of writing about the art work they’ve done this half term. This will help us update our writing assessments and set their targets ready for next half term. We have heard all the children read individually and updated their book allocation on ‘Bug Club’ ready for the holiday.
In maths the children have been using bar models to generate number bond families. They have also been using the symbols > is greater than, < is less than and = is equal to. They had to solve two calculations and help Bob Crocodile bite the biggest calculation.
We have had fun with shapes and art this week. The children were inspired by the art work of Gary Webb and Wassily Kandinsky and created 2D art work and 3D sculptures.
Have a lovely half term holiday.
