Run, run as fast as you can…

What an exciting week we have had! We read the story of The Gingerbread Man and decided it would be fun to bake some of our own.
We made an extra special one, but it escaped!!! Have you seen him anywhere?
We made ‘Missing’ posters and put them up around school. To the children’s amazement we got a postcard sent from Leeds. How did he get there? Then he went to Bolton Abbey, Whitby and Scarborough. On Thursday we got postcards from London and the south coast and on Friday he sent one from Scotland and Wales! Where will he go next? Will he stay in the United Kingdom or travel round the world?
In phonics we have revised er/ir/ur/igh/i-e/ie/oo/ew/ue/u-e.
This week we have been revising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. A lot of children are able to count in 2s up to 50, counting back from 50 is a little trickier! We have looked at the patterns that we created when counting in 2s, 5s and 10s – what is the same? What is different?
Keep practising counting at home.
Can you solve a problem using your knowledge of counting in 2s, 5s or 10s?
We have started to learn about types of animals. We looked at various animals and had to decide if they were a mammal, amphibian, fish, bird or reptile. We played an interesting ‘What am I?’ game which the children really enjoyed.

Look how much our caterpillars have grown! What will happen to them next?
We have been busy planting wild flower seeds. We had to weigh the seeds and mix them with sand. How long will it take them to grow?
Have a super weekend.
